This is the second "Prayer" in a series of planned choral pieces (the first being "Ave Maria"). The composition is a powerful piece that marks a pivotal point in the composer's technique. The work is structurally very strong, in three sections, and takes its inspiration from early Gregorian chant and plainsong, keeping a deliberate rhythmic simplicity throughout.
