The piece, composed for a boys choir, is the second installment of my choral blues series. Like the first in the series, “My Favourite Blues”, elements of improvisation are central its performance. This setting explores the blues idiom through a call and answer arrangement using non-text/swing-syllables. The two voices alternate the call and answer roles, each taking the helm by leading with simple blues-based phrases. These vocal lines provide the stylistic background for the improvised choruses to follow. This composition can easily be adapted to any two-voice choir. A third installment to the series, exploring blues instruments, is all ready in the works.
