Alice Hietala was born in Toronto in 1987. After graduating from The Toronto Waldorf School in 2005, she attended the Don Wright Faculty of Music at the University of Western Ontario and now holds a degree in Honours Music Education with a minor in English.
Alice divides her time among several artistic interests including composing, conducting, singing and acting. Her theatrical credits in London Ontario
include UWO productions of A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream (Puck), Q1 Hamlet (Musical Director and Gertrude) and The Taming of the Shrew (The Lord/Pedant). In the fall of 2009 she appeared as Tessa in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Gondoliers with the London company Musical Theatre Productions. She has studied voice with Prof. Rachel Mallon and is currently Assistant Director of the Vox Humana Chamber Singers.
Alice's debut as a composer came not long after she began piano lessons at the age of eight with her first original work “Prelude for a Late Night.” Since then, she has composed works for instrumental ensembles, solo piano and choir. "If Thou Wilt, Remember" is her first published work.
