composer: Rick Bartlett
text: Plato, William Shakespeare
Two Kisses is a paired work on two perspectives of a “kiss.” Both works explore thought-provoking and passionate texts by Plato and Shakespeare. Each possesses similar characteristics of sorrow and the intense, passionate expression of being kissed, remembering a kiss and longing for a kiss. Plato’s Kiss is a slow, sustained and delicate a cappella work. Shakespeare’s Kiss is an intensely adoring, moving, accompanied work of Romeo’s words shared in dialogue within the chorus. Shakespeare’s Kiss is dedicated to the Ward-Mellville High School Camerata and Director, Linda Contino.
